Does the President's position on gay marriage actually matter though? Does this make it more likely that it will become legal in the US? Is it a federal or state issue?
Except she was born in Moldavia or some such place. Maybe she can fake her birth certificate and Obama can start the "new birther movement".

It is a state issue. Just as the legalization of interracial marriage was.
It is state at this point but I think the Fed court could step in an over rule any state decision. If this was the case they would be overrooling no same sex marriage ammendments as it could be argued they are unconstitutional, where as they can not over rule the allowance of same sex marriage since one can not argue that is unconstitutional (atleast I do not see a relevant argument there...)
