Actually, I have seen more companies bringing back some of those types of perks. I keep lobbying for ping pong and snickers but it hasn't happened yet.

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

It's all fun til: -your employees realize they could just be getting paid more -you go public and shareholders hold you financially responsible -you have your own life and don't NEED to make friends at or hang out at the office -you get sued for someone's alcohol dependency and finally -your employees realize it's just a distraction from the incompetency of management

I almost wore one today, but yes, they do that, too. I've worked at places on both side of this spectrum, I'm in the middle now and enjoying it. As far as too relaxed, too fun. There was always a pressure that if you goofed off too much, or used the XBox, then your job wasn't needed. There was also a pressure with the amount of drinking and outings, that these coworkers are now your friends. I fucking have friends, a lot of them, I don't need to be friends with ever coworker. Interesting enough, over my 3 years at that place, and after leaving over a year ago, I only talk to 2 people that worked with me there. Everyone else is on the Kool-Aid and only associate with coworkers, it's so incestuous.
