I came to know that we can actually buy a real F1 car in UK (and may be other places too). Does anyone here has an experience driving one? It must be real fun I suppose.

And you'll need a vast piece of land to drive it on to go with it. You won't be able to drive that thing anywhere on public roads, not because of its spec but because it's undrivable at normal road-going speeds.

Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike... me...

You don't need to buy the space. We can rent the track and other assistance for a day.

I don't think I can ever earn enough to own that. Unless I claim one those lotteries I win frequently.

My budget might stretch to this: F35 Lightning II[^] - but I'm not sure I would fit in the cockpit... :sigh:

I used to work on the estate where McLaren made these and often saw them going out for a test run. I think the majority went for export.

F1 cars a notoriously hard to drive. I remember the wonderful Muddly Talker[^] being given a go in one. First they took him up through the ranks of the lower single seaters and he had no problems. Once in the F1 car, he could not get it to start without traction control switched on and found it nearly impossible to corner at anything close to a racing speed. Those bitches do not forgive anything. Ever. I too would love to have a go one day.

The key to drive an F1 car is to not to think as if you are normal car. It must be in higher than normal (read scary) speeds to behave properly.
