I think my brain just exploded reading this inception-esque story: http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2012/08/02/157743897/can-you-get-a-patent-on-being-a-patent-troll[^]

    Quote:

It turns out, a couple giant companies — IBM and Halliburton — have been working for years to patent what patent trolls do... Whatever the intent, if either or both company succeeds, they could sue patent trolls for infringing their patents for patent trolling.

    This is beyond ridiculous...

Can someone help me file a patent for breathing, otherwise noted as: "The process of taking air into and expelling it from the lungs, as part of a process to remove Oxygen from the air and, in return, release Carbon Dioxide." If I can get this puppy patented, whoa-ho NELLY! I'll be RICH! That or the last human in the world.

If you can still think, your brain didn't explode.

In other words only a troll calls a troll a troll if they have the patent and they are a troll?

Dude! I am working on patenting the act of eliminating solid, semisolid or liquid waste material from the digestive tract through the rectum. Aka defecating or pooping. If the two of us team up, we can rule the world  Soren Madsen

I think it's a brilliant idea. The world will be left with only one patent troll, who has no intention of patent trolling. I'd shake the hand of the man who came up with the idea.

IBM has obtained a patent on an algorithm (and related software) to optimally assign toilets on aircraft. Fortunately, good sense prevailed and IBM announced that they will not be enforcing the patent; not that we know of any airline using the algorithm!
