He's lucky the laws there prevent him from being charged with a DUI, I don't think he would here in CO, you can get a DUI for riding a bicycle drunk. :doh:
same down here where I am, I have seen somebody get a DUI on a riding lawnmower :-D
Common sense is not a gift it's a curse. Those of us who have it have to deal with those that don't.... Be careful which toes you step on today, they might be connected to the foot that kicks your butt tomorrow. You can't scare me, I have children.

ok how about some years ago the local cops managed to give a guy a DUI riding a horse? lol not joking either. I guess it was 15 years or so ago, down in the Mississippi delta.

I think that one wins, especially because you've got to wonder what a drunk person is doing with a wheelbarrow to get the attention of the police :laugh:
A couple years ago, my car got hit by a garbage can while I was sound asleep in my room. I went to leave for work in the morning, and I found my tail light broken, and an empty garbage can laying behind it. I'd be pretty happy if the people responsible for that got a DUI (Dumpstering Under the Influence).

I nearly got arrested for stealing hanging baskets once. 17 years old and on holiday, on way back from the pub my mate and I thought a couple of hanging baskets would brighten up our tent. As soon as we lifted them people jumped out of bushes with torches. My mate dropped his basket and legged it whilst I stood there looking stupid. Turns out there had been a spate of hanging basket thefts and the neighborhood watch were staking out the area. Took me ages to pursuade them I was a drunken idiot and not part of an organised hanging basket theft ring.

:laugh: Sounds like an experience I once had. I was pretty young (10ish) and stole a watermelon from a neighbor's front yard garden. I was playing by the side of the road a little while later and a cop drove up and asked me and my friends, "did you steal a watermelon?" I answered "no" and that was the end of that. :-D

"Investigators say they couldn't charge him with driving while intoxicated because he wasn't driving a motorized vehicle." So why didn't they leave the poor bugger alone, rather than provoke an incident? Great police work. Their mothers must be proud.

I think I've heard that one before. How does that even count as driving? It's not even a vehicle, let alone a motorized one...
But it does in fact (same as the bike) form part in traffic. So it has to be regulated by the same rules. although they should extend their normal quote: "don't drink and drive" into "don't drink and drive/ride" :P

I could walk in the middle of the road and become part of traffic. That's hardly and argument for it. And they aren't regulated by the same rules, for starters you don't need a license in either (bike or horse) case, but if you get a DUI on either you could lose your license to drive a car...but still be able to legally use what you got the offense on. How does that make any sense? :doh:

Nope, you can't as a matter of fact you can't walk in the middle of road (except in emergency cases and if there is no sidewalk) same for bike's/horses if there is no separated lane for bicycles they have to use the road as any other member of the traffic as well, so the same law applies. I can understand your point that it doesn't make any sense since you don't have to have a license, but look at it this way, your driving your bike or riding your horse (even worse) totaly drunk, you hit some one crossing the street on an intersection: that persona has nearly the same choice to get killed by that accident. So same rules apply as to normal drivers. here in europe its the same, for example in germany,if your drunk you can't drive/ride any kind of transportation method/vehicle. Personally i see the logic in it. I Personally stick a knife pointed at their face to everybody's steering wheel while driving it sure would make the streets safer cause nobody would drive over the limit anymore....might be a bit drastic though :wtf:

There are a lot of places with no sidewalks if you don't live in a city, and even if you do they aren't everywhere. (And I never specified legally, I'm still quite capable of being in the street if it's not legal, but I still wouldn't get a DUI for it). And I think it'd be pretty hard to kill someone by hitting them with a bike, unless you involved some other factors (like they got knocked into a car, or off a bridge). With the balance required, a drunk on a bike is probably more of a danger to themselves than to anyone else.
