What to do in Leeds? (Query for a friend)

Buddy of mine has to spend three weeks in Leeds in a few weeks (starting the 15th of Sept) and might actually get a few days off. He is guessing maybe two days during his 21 days there. So, I'm curious is there anything for him to do there or is he better off catching a train somewhere else?

Eat some Indian food. At Akbars[^] they have the worlds biggest Naan bread (they claim). I believe they might be right. It might not be the best Indian food in the world, but I can testify that it's certainly good stuff. If you want the best you apparently need to go to Bradford. Haven't been there myself (my wife vetoed it) but the Royal Armories is supposed to be good, if you're into that kind of stuff.

He could always go to no 21, Royal Park Terrace. I lived there on and off for a couple of years in the 60s when my old man was doing research for the coal industry. I can't say I really liked Leeds but in later years when Mrs. Wife and me went there for a weekend we discovered a superb fish and chip shop called Keith Yap's. By Harry, t'northerners know how to make a plate of F&C. :)

Go to the city museum, it's free, and see the Leeds Tiger. After that get really drunk because you've done all there is to do. ;)

Go to Bradford for a curry? Day trip to York? Neither are all that far, York is most definitely worth the trip out.

A visit to Manchester to watch a match or some shopping can be done. A must visit to York. Blackpool is nearby if you like amusement parks. Pleasure beach is one nice place there. BTW with England not being a big country and good train services, you can visit a lot of places over weekends. Leeds Liverpool canal is another place to try out.

There is the Royal Amouries museum, Thackery medical museum (grusome), industrial museum they have a steam railway (and Howarth isnt far for another), there are parks to visit, fairly decent shopping you also have the dales just up the road as well as york, harrogate (both lovely to visit ) Braford(just next door) has the Textile museum and the Museum of film and television (would not recomend Bradford as a night out though, unless it was just for a curry - they have one that hold a Royal warrent - providing curries to the Royal houshold)

Well, I visited a customer site in Leeds several years ago. Across the street from the customer was a company who built tanks and other armored vehicles for the U.K. military. The front area of the company's lot was set up as a demonstration course, and a couple times we got to watch them demo'ing their products.
