I think this feature is very helpful at least to me (if you don't think so, I can't understand why). I want to know which articles I already downloaded (maybe recognized by some icon placed somewhere around the article title), if you download only some articles, there are no problem remembering what were downloaded, but I bet many users here have downloaded hundreds, even thousands of articles in codeproject, If you keep up-to-date all the articles everyday, you can be sure what you download are new but many may not have condition to visit codeproject everyday, they have only 1 or 2 days a week to visit codeproject searching for wanted articles, another scenario is when a new user joining codeproject (like me), there have been so many articles in codeproject, s/he don't even need to dig into new articles, just old articles are enough, so I think knowing surely what you downloaded right at a glance at the title is very helpful otherwise you have to download them first, open and check the code for some minutes before recognizing what you've just downloaded are already in your computer (maybe downloaded months before). Please if anyone think this is helpful, vote it up not for me, for many other users. If codeproject does have this feature, please show me where it is. I think Bookmarking is a manual version for such a feature (automatic), everytime you download an article, just remember to bookmark it. But you still have to navigate to My bookmarks (maybe bookmarking is only for seeing or checking later not for viewing what you downloaded). The last words I want to say, there may be a nasty bug in bookmarking operation, the articles I bookmarked are well saved in My bookmarks, but viewing any page of downloaded articles, you can still see the button "Bookmark" displayed in the page as if it invited you to bookmark more one time. Instead that button should display some other helpful text like "Unbookmark" or "Bookmarked"... In conclusion, bookmarking (with the nasty bug I've just shown above) is not a workaround for the feature I want. Vote of 5 for myself...

You should really post this in the Site Bugs and Suggestions forum.

Do you think it's a worth while solution for CP to manage the users downloads in their database. Your suggestion may be good however one has to think the following. 1. Manage your article downloads in CP database. 2. When you click on the article, the data should be retrieved and check whether you have downloaded the code or not , then set the icon appropriately. Note the data cannot be cached. I don't think this feature ever exist in this world and it's not a worth solution to manage each and every users downloads. What if you have downloaded and then deleted the source from your machine. What if some one says "Hey show me the location where I have downloaded the Code, I just don't know where I have downloaded" Thanks,

Actually, I think the CP database already keeps track of what we download as well as what we vote on and report. I mean, it must since you only get points once for downloading a specific file, voting on a specific article, etc. Having said that, the feasibility of implementing what you label as 2) obviously depends on how the relationships are structured. I think implementing this feature is simple, every time user clicks the download link, this is updated to the database, of course s/he may, in fact, not download the article but I think most of users once click on the download link should really want to download the article and save it somewhere on their computer. If you think this is not a worth, what about the bookmarking? As I mentioned in my original post (the trivial bug), if we can know which is bookmarked right when looking at its title (recognized by some icon placed around the title), we can bookmark to mark what we download (as well as for what we're interested in). Thanks!
