Here, let me do your job for you.

I had a call yesterday with a vendor that's working on integrating an application they're writing for us with one of our existing applications. They ran into a problem and sent me a copy of the exception they got. Because of the way this legacy system is set up their exception is valid, but to be expected and they need to code to handle it knowing they will get this very specific exception. So I explained why they got it, and what they needed to do to fix it. This got me a phone call in which I had to explain 3 times why they needed to write the code to handle this exception. In the end I had to write an outline of a class for them that could handle this exception because they just couldn't get it. I'm not familiar with this exception either, so how'd I write this code? Google! How am I supposed to feel good about a company working for us whose developers just shrug and say they don't know how to do something and can't even be bothered to try and do a Google search. This isn't the first time I've run across this breed of developer who it appears just can't be bothered, but it doesn't get any less frustrating.

Have a look at QA. You might well find this very exception in there now, along with a Nd Cdz Urgntz plea.
I was brought up to respect my elders. I don't respect many people nowadays.

CodeStash - Online Snippet Management | My blog | MoXAML PowerToys | Mole 2010 - debugging made easierI would, but I'm worried I'd find my vendor asking for code to fix the problem they had yesterday.
