Alligator River

First, read the story:
Once upon a time there was a young woman named Abigail. She was very much in love with a young man named Gregory, who lived on the opposite bank of a river teeming with hungry man- and woman-eating alligators. She wanted to cross the river to be with him, but unfortunately, the bridge across the river had been washed out. So Abigail went to ask Sinbad, a river boat captain, to take her across. "There's only one condition," he said. "First, you will have to sleep with me." Of course, she refused. She went to her friend Ivan, explained her situation, and asked for help. "Not me," he said. "I don't want to get involved in your problem." Seeing no other way, Abigail went back to Sinbad and met his conditions. True to his word, Sinbad then took her across the river to see Gregory. Gregory was very happy to see Abigail, and they spent an idyllic afternoon together. But when Abigail told him what she had done to get the use of Sinbad's boat, Gregory said, "What kind of woman are you to do such a thing?" And he left in a huff, saying he never wanted to see her again. Abigail went off crying and found Slug and told him everything that had happened. Slug, feeling sorry for Abigail, went and found Gregory and beat him to a pulp while Abigail looked on laughing.

1- Sarah Michelle Geller 2- Lara Flynn Boyle 3- That chick from Sex in the City 4- Hillary Clinton 5- Venus Williams oh... YOUR story... sorry.. try again... 1- Abigail 2- Gregory 3- Slug 4- Ivan 5- Sinbad Though it was a close thing between Gregory and Abigail. BTW, are you trying to say something about the current world political situation by using this story as an analogy and then getting us to rate the people/countries and then you will retaliate by linking up the names (e.g. Ivan = France or something) and showing how hypocritical we all are?* Or is it just an honest story? * Man, is that a long sentence or what! And all those ands! Amazing.

The river boat captain is a lonely guy. He spends his time plying the waters, probably hardly ever meeting pretty young things. He probably also does not know much better, seeing sex as sex and not love. To him it is not such a big deel. The story uses sex as a trigger word too. It could easily be replaced by something worse (like him requiring her to kill an enemy of his for safe passage) but then people would not react so badly, because it is not sex. All in all he is not being nasty about it or doing something trully awful. She can easily refuse and find another way. She on the other hand does know better about sex, yet she caves in and uses her body to get across the river. She did not argue much with him either, or offer anything else. The clincher though for her is that she, being rebuffed by her lover, hires a known thug to beat him up and then stands there ENJOYING the scene. She gets pleasure out of seeing another human beaten to a pulp, and not just a stranger, but someone she loved her slighted her. I would trust the captain far more than her. At least he is open and honest and true to himself. She is not. That is my thinking anyway :) And Ivan is a looser because he cares about nothing but himself, won't help others or get involved or sacrifice himself for someone else. Sure he is honest about it, but still not nice. That is why he is worse than Sinbad.

The story was a psychological test. Hence it dabbles in the ridiculous to find the root motivations of those who take it. Plus of course you are analysing what you call idiots for doing the same thing... hmmm ;)
