Given the number of responses on these issues in this week's poll, with some people plainly regarding them as indispensible while others can only drool in envy, it would be interesting to see a poll on who has dual CPUs and/or dual monitors. Gavin Greig "Haw, you're no deid," girned Charon. "Get aff ma boat or ah'll report ye." Matthew Fitt - The Hoose O Haivers: The Twelve Trauchles O Heracles.

Why go for dual processors or monitors when you can just get two whole machiens? I have dual machines... a laptop and a desktop. You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose.

Here's what I use all day.

            Dual 2.2Ghz Xeon
Dual 21" Sony Trinitron Flat Screens (using a 128MB ATI Card).

I love it! I could work on a single processor machine but there is no way I could ever go back to working on a single monitor. Dual monitors rock! Mark Sanders sanderssolutions.com

Dual monitors - a 19" and a 17". 19" for software dev/GIS/Graphics work, 17" for web/email/help/documentation etc. Can't beat it. I would never go back to a single monitor. Drew.

Real programmers use dual CPU machines!! Serously, if your code uses multi threading, runing on a multi CPU machine, can throw up problems which do not exist on single cpu machines. Where you end up having to synchronise cetain pices of code. I would always recomend testing on a dual CPU, it was certainly an eye opener for me!
