I am a big reader and occasional contributor to CP but I feel right at home here so I thought I would share my feelings about today. I had been planning it for a while and had my next move sorted. I had the letter written for a week... but it doensn't make it feel any easier. The look of disappointment on my bosses face was obvious. It such a weight off my shoulders doing it.. it's not as though I bin my job every day. Still, have to move on. It's a mixed feeling of anxiety and elation. Wierd!! Okay everyone, wish me luck. take care Adam. www.beachwizard.com/travelogue[^] "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. I had to do it some time ago. I had given three month notice, but still (on the day of my leaving) the boss was begging me to stay. Didn't want to have the companies fate on my shoulders. And I, naiv as I was at this time, did another 6 month. After this time the situation repeated. :| Today I know this was stupid. If a boss is given three month notice and he didn't find anybody to take over the job (and actually do the hand-over), he stupid enough to be punished right away. Matthias

Sounds as though you took the sucker punch there pal. It might sound heartless but you do have to put yourself (and your family) above your boss and his firm and do what is right. I am expecting the usual visits from ever-more senior staff (as happenend to a collegue of mine..) I have set my course now and I would not want to turn back as I would lose face with my new employer and also my current one. www.beachwizard.com/travelogue[^] "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. My collegue surfer don't miss practicaly any weekend without going surf , he says it's too addictive ... and btw the water normally here is always more than 10C ... today for instance is 14C and for me is cold as hell ... even for my surfer friends is cold too ... go figure ... Well, there was this mad mad dude in quality control who used to, er, quality control ever increasing amounts in this lake (nothing living in it, you understand.. well not anymore anyway). To the point where when he detonated the explosive the entire lake would jump out of the water, quite literally. The thing that really gets you is the pressure wave from the explosion..it can just knock you straight over. The subsonic waves travel through the ground and cause all the buildings to move. I must admit, safety was pretty strict. If the humidity got too low they sprayed water everywhere just in case the static caused something to go off accidentally. Beats software development.. for fun. The pay's not too good though. The most impressive thing is seeing a quarry face being detonated. The whole thing is organised to detonate in a certain order to produce certain sized rocks.. the noise is incredible. Bonfire night has never been the same... www.beachwizard.com/travelogue[^] "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered" George Best.
