Best win8 phone

I need a Win8 phone for testing n' Stuff and so I thought I'd ask the collective for their suggestions. It won't be a daily driver, just a paper weight next to my dev machine, so price is important, weight isn't, screen size is "bigger is better". Suggestions?

I don't really know how the different phones stack up, but I bought the Lumia 920 for $99 (AT&T contract) when it first came out. However, I think it is a sin to buy it and only use it for occasional testing. The camera is great, but the screen is outstanding! I have no problem reading Lounge posts outside in beaming, straight-on, Southern California summer sunshine (in this case, sunshine actually means sunshine  ). I see people with other phones contorting their bodies trying to cast some shade on their screens while squinting to make out what is there...and I smile a little. Soren Madsen

I got a lumina 920 from work, and it's a nice phone. Does all the tile stuff and IE on it works well. Though for testing, you might want to go with something that has more average specs.

Nokia Lumia 520 has gained popularity in India very rapidly. I would think its a good phone for development. Screen size could be a slight concern though.

Don't get the Nokia Lumia 920, you might use some fruit as a paperweight then. :)

I am pretty happy with Samsung Ativ S, which I am sure you could find in a very decent price. It is a good quality phone, with big screen and good specs. Some tips: - Do not buy a phone with less than 1GB of RAM (unless of course you need it for testing). Windows Phone 8 impose some hardware requirements and doesn't allow the installation of some apps in low-tech phones. - Windows Phone supports three different screen resolutions. For full testing you would probably need 3 different devices - or to use the emulator

In the first world I believe these two requirements are mutually incompatible. Every gadget blog mention I've seen of cheap phone with mediocre hardware specs but a giant screen has included a "developing world availability only" caveat. You might as well just look at the lumia line and decide how much you'll willing to spend for better hardware and base your decision on that.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies. -- Sarah Hoyt

Just don't buy the Samsung Focus. 2 1/2 years of misery with it.
