Last week I bought the Surface RT after they dropped the price on it. So far I like it; it’s fast works great for keeping up on email general web browsing and listening to music. What I haven’t figure out yet is why they didn’t come up with a way for me to watch silver light videos. Seems ridiculous that on a Microsoft product I can’t use a Microsoft technology to watch videos for Microsoft’s products. On the positive side looks like Windows 8.1 is ready for preview http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/getting-started/windows-8-preview-on-surface[^] I return you back to the baby drool…

      Microsoft.com:

Java and Silverlight plug-ins are not supported on Surface RT.

That's just sad. Guess that's one of the reasons they couldn't sell it.

Did I read somewhere that MS have some six million units in stock that they can't shift and the disappointing sales are partly attributed to the high price they wanted for it? If they do have six million you could build a house with them, to the tune of Pink Floyd's Brick In The Wall.

The only time the surface is important is if you're drowning.

... and with one fell swoop, he makes a complete mockery of Microsoft's marketing...

But who would want to build a house with pastel-coloured baby blocks?

I wanna be a eunuchs developer! Pass me a bread knife!

For me not supporting Java is no big deal (one less peice of software that needs hourly updates). However, you would think they could come up with a way to support silver light out of the browser? Hmmm...

You know, I actually like it. I can keep track of things going on at work, browse the web, and control the Xbox. Read PDFs without recompiling the source code to the universe every time. Update office files, ect. It's just the silver light thing that has me annoyed.
