US Immigration

A week? A couple of years back, it was full in one day!
Well, it was filled in a day but it took a week to process and declare it. 2 or 3 years ago (not sure which) it didn't get filled until late November. I have no idea why but I find the whole immigration process fascinating so try to keep up with what goes on. Sad, I know. :)

If you want a Passport that'll allow you to visit various countries without getting a visitor Visa through Visa waiver programs, then immigrate to Singapore. That'd be your quickest option :-) You'd need to learn Chinese and/or Tamil to survive there though.

Got that wrong - not a word of either (I do struggle with Singlish sometimes) and have no problems surviving here. Half out team are indian dev who have done precisely what you suggested.

What! That's crazy. So if I am not using any of the facilities in the country, I am not even getting paid in my US bank account, why should I pay taxes?

The US and Eritrea are the only countries in the world that tax its permanent residents and citizens on their worldwide income regardless of their tax domicile. /ravi

No that's right, if you are taxed less than the US amount locally they want the difference. I'm astonished there are US expats employed in low tax countries!

Don't worry, I am not coming there to steal jobs. :) I can do that from India. ;) I am interested in knowing affects of recent economic conditions on immigration restrictions. Has it become more stricter or easier to sneak in(legally).

Hundreds if not thousands are employed in no-tax countries such as Saudi Arabia and Dubai in the Middle East.
