A beautiful night in La Crosse...

    'Twas a warm winter night, the heavy snowfall earlier now packed and wet on the ground. I was driving home along West Avenue (one of the busier roads in LAX) looking forward to a nice roast beef sandwich and a salad... when i passed the house one of my brothers was renting: Activism on West Ave.[^] It nearly brought tears to my eyes, seeing these spirited lads standing up for, not one cause, not two, no, not three, not even four, certainly not five, most definitely not six, but seven - that's right, seven - causes. *sniff* Such courage. Why, should GWB see such a thing, i have no doubt all thoughts of a war with Iraq would end tomorrow. Should the Chinese see it, Tibet would be free. Should heathens see it, they would live a life of Christ. Should druggies see it, they would become clean, upstanding citizens. Should hate-filled rednecks see it, they would become flower children. Should fornicators see it, they would put on their rubbers. Should wife beaters see it, they would hang their heads in shame. An inspiring sight, to be sure. If only we could all be such heroes...

      A pack of geeks, pale and skinny, feeling a bit pumped and macho after a morning of strenuous mouse clicking and dragging, arriving en masse at the gym. They carefully reset the machines to the lowest settings, offer to spot for each other on the 5 lb dumbells, and rediscover the art of macrame while attempting to jump rope. -Roger Wright on my colleagues and I going to gym each day at lunch
