Clickety[^] I think the media is blowing this way out of proportion. They are taking the comments of a few wankpots to give your high school geography teacher a bum rap. :-D The article tries to be helpful by pointing out the distance between Saudi Arabia and India is about 3000 miles. As if that's going to make any difference... hehheh..

Also missing the point that not all Arabs are from Saudi Arabia. I was actually quite surprised that the map in the article got the two countries marked correctly. I also wonder what the difference is between an Indian-American and an American-Indian? ;)

I liked the comment on Reddit: "I have no problem with an Indian winning Miss America, at least they were here first."

It is an Americanism. In the USA, an Indian-American is a person with American citizenship (by birth or otherwise) with ancestral connections to India. An American Indian (no hyphen) is a person with American citizenship with ancestral ties to the aboriginal people that were in the USA before the Europeans appeared several centuries ago. HTH

Winky or not, it was a good question that many ask and I think I produced a reasonable answer.
