No, forgot to add, American's are excused from having any knowledge of anyone outside their immediate family.

Discussion about the teachers strike at work today - leave it, not here - when the woman I sit next to (in her 20s) asked "Who is Michael Gove"*. I was sad and angry and told her she wasn't allowed to contribute to any discussion about anything. After a few seconds I asked her "Have you heard of David Cameron?"**. She said "Yes of heard of him... Don't know who he is, but I've heard of him". I don't want to live on this planet anymore. *UK Education Secretary - if your are UKian and don't know then award yourself a kick in the kock, this explanation is for everyone else. **None of you should need this one explaining.

I must admit I'd be very hard pressed to name more than half a dozen cabinet ministers, other than Dave & George. And, to be more honest, I really find it diificult to care any more, I disagree with so much of what the say or do.

I wouldn't want to live in a country where complete ignorance of a topic would keep me from voicing very strong opinions about it.

As Septimus says, you haven't missed much. Obama met him when he was leader of teh UK opposition and described him as "a lightweight". He hasn't improved since then...

The only instant messaging I do involves my middle finger. English doesn't borrow from other languages. English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Well if there was such a rule it would eliminate most of the politicians from ever opening their mouths.

Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.
