There sometimes seems to be little difference between posts made to the lounge and the soapbox, these days. I'm comfortable reading both boards, but wondered how people interpreted the word "rant"? To me, if you are going to put in expletives, even if you cunningly (or not so, IMO) disguise them with a bunch of asterisks, or even via upper and lower case code (I mean, come on, my 10 year old could suss that one out!!), then they should be in the soapbox, surely? Very true. I tend to post here rather than the Lounge if I start a thread as there are a couple of people here who violently disagree with the choices I've had to make in my life, and have posted offensive remarks on threads I've started. If I start threads here rather than the Lounge I feel free to tell them exactly what I think of them when it happens. ;) Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

Although I'm guilt of doing that once today. Generally I think using such words anywhere just shows a lack of language skills. I agree such theads would be nice to be moved, but then the Admins hopefully have more pressing concerns. Regardz Colin J Davies

I'm guessing the concept of a 2 hour movie showing two guys eating a meal and talking struck them as 'foreign' Rob Manderson wrote:

That reminds me of that James Bond line in Goldeneye (I think that was the one): Miss Moneypenny to James as he is 'catching up on some Danish': "You always were a cunning linguist James". :-D [edit] I think the James Bond film in question might actually be Tomorrow Never Dies instead. Can anyone confirm this before I die of curiosity and get the DVD's out? ;P

It makes a big difference, you see. Debbie

No Mrs. Debs. *Paul goes to the dunce corner and starts writing out his lines* ;) I just wanted to know if my use of the word farking in the Lounge is by your standards of Lounge Material, obscene. Would my kid sister know what I am talking about and then be predisposed to yelling "fucking" all the time because I do? (I don't yell fucking all the time, just an example.) And surely if a kid knows that farking means fucking then they don't need any help from me anyway? Also, ladies should not use that word.

It depends on how you look at it. If we consider a "lady" or "gentleman" to be someone who fits into society's narrow view of what they should be, then let the concept die naturally. :) If on the other hand, we consider it as a way of treating people, then the opposite. :-D Having said, that, "ladies" and "gentlemen" leaves people who sit directly astride the gender divide out in the cold...and there's more of them around than there are people like me....it's just that they're hiding. Something else to ponder I guess. Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk
