Hi All, I hope this is the right spot for this question. I need to restore the configuration of a computer to its fresh out of the box state. The person who own this machine has (naturally) lost the accompanying disks that belong to the machine. However, I've found the C:\Windows\Options\CABS folder appears to be intact. Does anyone know how to restore a machine with the contents of the stuff in the CABS folder? Or, better yet, make a bootable rescue disk out of this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Aaron

The CABs folder holds the files that are usually in the \win95 (or \win98 or \winme) dir on the CD, so you can just put that whole directory on a CD and install from it. (Note that there might not be a setup.exe there. Some OEM CDs don't have setup.exe - you have access to the CABs to install other Windows components, but you can't do a fresh install from the CD.) --Mike-- The Internet is a place where absolutely nothing happens.   -- Strong Bad 1ClickPicGrabber - Grab & organize pictures from your favorite web pages, with 1 click!
