      Use the express editions, they are free. Otherwise if you work for a small business that meets the BizSpark guidelines, you can get VS2013 (and a lot of other MS products) for free. You can also look at upgrade pricing if you have an earlier version.

          well... let's see... if you're a student you can get discount pricing... if you're a professional and have an employer, then your employer should pay for it.... Otherwise, yes... it's too damn expensive... :laugh:

              The Microsoft Technology Action pack is £300 (in the UK) and for 3 people, and you get Windows, Windows Server, SQL Server, Office, Visual Studio etc etc with it. Pretty good deal, especially if you can split the cost with two others.

                But the licensing is sh!t by the looks of things; "These licenses may not be used for direct revenue-generating activities (such as website or email hosting, or custom solution development for monetary compensation)." Only really for internal systems and training / demo purposes.
