Those chaps who re-mixed the Stat of the Union speech should get hold of the Powell speech and make a music video. Those... sorry... the satellite image and the Mirage footage would make a good cut-to scene.

I totally agree. It's such a shame. I don't see any reason for this passivity, except perhaps the will not to irritate China and its market of 1 billion of potential consumers

Jason Henderson wrote: The whole point of Resolution 1441 (or whatever it was) was that Iraq would be punished if they did not fully cooperate with UN inspectors. Both Powell and Blix have now testified to that fact. If you don't believe Powell, then believe Blix! What more do you want? What more would you need? Jason, that is not what I was bitching about. I was bitching that this hugely overhyped security council meeting with Colin Powell and The Evidence was worthless. It has not convinced anyone of anything. It was just another uneeded spouting of which even your own countrymen are getting sick of (Chris for instance.) Saddam is a lunatic. He has WMDs. I do not know if he will use them, but the chances are good enough that something has to be done. I don't think war is the way. I am glad at least someone (the US) is trying to do something about it. Would be nice if the US's determination spurred on the UN to doing it's job properly. I do not need more proof to make me realise something must be done. But what Powell presented was not proof, it was weak. Bottom line: The US is going to war. Saddam will fall. Colin Powell and The Evidence was worthless and just waste of time and bandwidth.

IF NK does go wild with their threats the USA has probably the most to lose. Unsure if you saw the links to the recent POster campaign in NK, but they were basically Anti-US more then simply Anti-Western or Anti-Capitalism. For what ever reason the truth is the US is percieved to be the oppressor by a few countries regimes around the world. So the US will be the ones left to deal with this. Sure the rest of the world should take some responsibility, but as we both know they won't. I really think leaving NK unchecked is of far greater risk than Iraq though. Regardz Colin J Davies

The US is being exploited by NK and Iraq. Our perceived power is being used by them to paint us as being tyrants when it is they who are tyrants.

If some punk picks a fight with your friend in a bar, will you stand idly by and let your friend handle it or will you help him out? Its not that they believe in the war, but they are willing to help a friend who just got sucker punched. I have no doubts that Saddam is helping terrorists. Either financially or with training it doesn't matter. If he has WMDs, he more than likely will give them to terrorists to be used against the US.

I agree. Even if nobody really wants the war, it seems to be inevitable. But I think that the US still tries to convince the rest of the world of the necessity of a war (especially the UN) for excusing their attack. But they don't seem to realize that the longer they argue the more the will of support is declining. Often changing reasons or giving new reasons for a war wont't help at all. So they should either give real, proved reasons or perhaps they better wait. The biggest problem I have is that I don't really know what to think. I fear Saddam has WMD and thus has to be stopped. But not having a real prove makes it difficult to completely support pro-war opinions.

I don't understand why our intel community isn't telling the inspectors where to go. If there are secret bunkers, give them the location. Do the inspectors have to get permission from Iraq first?

That's what all wonder about. And that's also the fact thet let's anti-war opinions grow. They're able to argue: 'Not telling the inspectors where to go means not knowing where it is. Or even not knowing if there is anything.' So why don't the US really prove it?
