Spam votes?
-
It surprises me that contrasting posts are voted (more than once) as spam or abusive in the below thread. I don't remember how many votes it takes, but I've had an account banned already once. Why would people vote that as spam? Can I really get banned again for just posting on a debate in the soap box?

What, don't you know? You're not allowed to disagree with some people. Some people are Right with a capital R, if you disagree with them you can only be a troll.

I've had loads of abuse reports today. One for mentioning a Russian called Semen in the Lounge, another for calling someone an idiot below, which seemed reasonable. Since then someone has turned up and had a little reporting frenzy, hitting as many posts as they could find.

All right, let's complain about it. People (and by that I actually mean "established CP users") are getting banned left right and center, usually by the automatic system being abused by trigger-happy morons. By some miracle I haven't gotten myself banned yet with a mildly offensive joke or unpopular opinion, though it's probably just a question of time. It's not cool, and I'm going to overthrow the government support a request to have certain changes made to the Hamster-guided Nuking System so that it still nukes spammers but is a bit less enthusiastic in nuking the rest of us.

There really is an automatic system for it that removes "established CP users"? One would think that such a system would at least check if a certain status/amount of points is reached and if so, deferring the decision to one of the hamster managers.
I won’t not use no double negatives.

The automatic system works for every user. After a certain amout of reports an account gets banned. Established users usually are able to get them reenabled by asking for forgivness / investigation of abuse of the reporting system.

My original account was banned a few months ago despite having around 130k points and being a member for 5 or 6 years. I think I got two reports that finally did for me, but the other reports were over a period of months or even years. If you're going to be a dick all of a sudden then a warning or cooling off is probably called for, but the system is there to remove people who are being a problem to the site and adding nothing to it. It should not be there for vendettas or as a punishment tool.

I'd go ahead and complain myself, but I'm not great at politely-worded requests. My strengths lie more towards demanding stuff and being an obnoxious dick while doing so, but that would probably be counterproductive in this case. So, if someone else could go ahead and complain nicely, I'll be sure to voice my support.

He's being ironic and sarcastic. And also pointing out a major flaw of the "voting" system on CP.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.-John Q. Adams
You must accept one of two basic premises: Either we are alone in the universe, or we are not alone in the universe. And either way, the implications are staggering.-Wernher von Braun
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.-Albert Einstein
