connect from Android app to sql server database

Hi, I am new to android development. I wanted to build a android mobile app which connects to a sql server database, retrieves a data from the table and displays it in mobile device. Similarly when i do some action on my application it updates the same in the database. Is there any tutorial / step by step process where i can refer to implement the same.
