I found some listed on USA sites but they were like 1200 + USD And you are right they are hard to find, most are lower grade system for email, light games and facebook viewing. I guess that is all people do with them any more.

I may have to go for an external screen, but I have trouble convincing the missus that this is a good idea ...

Hi Espen, I was just "window-shopping" today, looking at reviews of large-screen note-books on EnGadget: [^]. I am definitely not to going to buy a laptop, but if somebody else paid for it !, I'd like something like this: [^].

Looks nice, apart from the screen resolution - 1920x1080

I think that's going to be difficult requirement to meet, Espen.  IIRC, Dell is one of the few vendors that still sell 1920x1200 laptops. /ravi

I think his last sentence "Weight is not an issue ..." says it all. :)

I obviously meant that I wouldn't mind if the laptop weighs > 4kg. And, no, I will not try to post a description of the missus - it would only come across as shameless bragging :-O

If you would consider going down to 15.6" you could have a look at Dell Precision M3800[^]. It has a resolution of 3200x1800. Oddly enough, their 17" computers are limited to 1920x1080.

Looks promising - I think I'll have another go at convincing the missus that an external screen isn't such a bad idea ...

Right, it looks like I'm going to have some real problems the next time I need a new laptop ...

if you use an external screen then you may as well go for a desktop and save allot of money and get more in the system.

I'm looking for a high resolution 17"+ laptop for the missus, and finding something that has a touch display with better resolution than 1920x1080 and a 4th generation i7 is surprisingly hard. Weight is not an issue ... Any ideas?

I read that as "Weight is not the issue ..." , i.e. not reason he wants to part with her. :~ It could be the small floppies though.
