According to the latest alarmists science out today: Eating lots of meat and cheese in middle age is 'as deadly as SMOKING' [^] Right, so the average French guy, diet rich in cheese, meat, red wine and Gauloise cigarettes, is 4 times as likely to get cancer and die is he? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_in_Europe_by_life_expectancy[^] Ah, highest life expectancy in Europe. Just wen did science decide it can totally detach itself from reality? Is NO one peer reviewing this crap and pointing out the obvious flaws?

I am waiting to see an article how eating is the main cause of cancer. After all everybody who had it ate and drank water. We should stop doing these right away !

You aren't far wrong. Basically doing anything increases the chances of Cancer and that includes eating, drinking breathing etc.

The main cause of cancer is to be alive, there are no known cases of dead people getting cancer. The logic is impeccable.

This isn't science; this is the Daily Fail[^]. If a week ever passes when that bunch of idiots don't come up with something new that they claim causes cancer, then you'll know the world's about to end.

Where meat and cheese is also eaten in large quantities. :) In fact I was particularly thinking about the South West French, who have a very rich and fatty diet, and yet a higher than national average for life expectancy.

The average French guy actually drags the national average down further than quite a lot of other European countries. The average French woman, on the other hand, does have one of the better life expectancies.

When you realize how many hormones and chemicals are in the food you eat, you don't need science or anyone else to tell you it can cause cancer. Common sense should be enough.

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Not in Europe there aren't. Our meat is hormone free and we eat organic veg. Anyway, its BS science, clearly, there is no correlation between eating cheese and cancer. Its just plain junk science.

I believe they are allowed to still use some chemicals but you are right, Europe definitely does a better job than the US in blocking harmful chemicals from the food.

Not true. When there are steroids in the cheese, then yes, it can cause cancer.

Actually there is a 6-8% amount of hormones allowed in the meat if I am not wrong. I read it in the local newspapers and if you trust them its true.(I don't) Anyway to die old is a curse itself we should enjoy the life while we have it (and the war hasen't started yet) and screw the cancer.

Quite a bit, if not most, of dietary science isn't science; it's people trying to prove their pet theories using weak correlations.

Why can't both be right? That just means that the life expectancy of the average French-person should be 120 years.
