OS X 10.5.8
-
At a customer's place who has OS X 10.5.8 installed on their iMac. Need to upgrade but there is no App Store until 10.6.x. Online says it is DVD only. Ring local Aplle Store and they don't have it but reckon it can be downloafed. Put me through to Apple Support who promptly hang up on me. Anyone have a link to where I can buy it and then download it?

There's a pretty unsatisfying (but very Apple) solution on their 'Support' site[^]. Basically, buy a 10.6 DVD, install it, then Mavericks. Big thing to check first is whether or not the machine can be upgraded.

I did some research - Versions before Lion (10.6.X) need to be installed from a DVD, anything else is impossible. Fortunately, Apple still sells Snow Leopard copies, so getting hands on the DVD shouldn't be a big deal.
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

Found all that myself, but want the thing today. If I could get it today, I could complete the entire upgrade by the end of the weekend and get paid on Monday. As it is, I called Apple, have paid for it and it should get to me by Tuesday, so it might be done by Thursday or Friday. The dicks won't mail it to my PO Box, it has to be the house, good thing my Wife and I both work, both kids go to school and the Mother In-Law won't answer the door when no ones home.

I could of course just send you my copy, but I doubt that that will arrive in Oz before you get it from Apel.
