Anger with the French and German stand has led some US congressmen to call for a trade boycott of French products and the withdrawal of some US troops from Germany. And some consumers are already reducing their purchases of French cheese and wine. ... Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, J Dennis Hastert, has asked Congress to consider banning French exports of wine and bottled water on health grounds. ... Is this not just a natural human response? If I do not like the way store X treats me (or the product), I will at least go to store Y and compare. Arm twisting is when a hoodlum informs me that if I do not buy from store X he breaks my legs. "I will find a new sig someday."

Mike's reply was horrible, very nasty of him IMO and good to see you deflating it so easily :) Would you accept $800 from a South African? lol ;)

Some people are very touchy about anything anyone says about their country. As I've always said in the past, people should stop thinking small as in countries, and start thinking big as in planets. Like we are all homo sapiens from earth and we will go out and explore and find new habitable planets etc... That should be the sorta pattern people's minds should fall into, rather than all this small-talk about countries and races. Nish

Anger with the French and German stand has led some US congressmen to call for a trade boycott of French products and the withdrawal of some US troops from Germany. And some consumers are already reducing their purchases of French cheese and wine. ... Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, J Dennis Hastert, has asked Congress to consider banning French exports of wine and bottled water on health grounds. ... And the president of the French-American Chamber of Commerce, Boris Marchand-Tonnel, warned that US airlines that were getting government support would be reluctant to buy Airbus commercial jets from France. Good Article.
