    When you are analyzing any particular economy trade. Do you look at Merchandise import or total import and similarly for export? Thanks

      The figures published by the government here in the UK are usually given as totals, but the breakdown is available for those who are interested. Because of the large amounts earned by financial transactions they often quote a separate figure for "invisibles".
