          Even if you didn't have to, don't you think it would be courteous of you to do so? After all, wouldn't you want to be mentioned if you were the author?

            Of course the author will be mentioned!! But some license have their extra rules how to mention authors. So I have to know "how" to mention the author. If there are no special rules, I would just add a new entry to the credits list on the website :).
