What I like to reach is the idea get spoken out and find people with the same mind. If that is unwanted, please delete it. Lothar

But why to post in different forums and also post a top/trick?! After 4 years around you should now better!!!

Ok, thats a concrete complaint. We started yesterday! It's so fresh, that I am a bit over ambitionated to promote it. The idea is simple, I am a Open Source developer, who had used the Freshmeat site to promote my project. I do found this a very fair place to announce new software releases. I am upset with the now stalled state, so a group of three people try to start it over. Creating a comparable site, but starting vers small and with a discussion about how to start, including discussions how to fund, manage and the like stuff. I thougt the CodeProject site is a good place as of daily ca 40000 online users. So bear with me I am trying to promote. Did you have any other questions? Thanks, Lothar

Linking to a post that links to a forum outside of codeproject, hmm... What if everyone did that? Why not just tell us about what this external forum is about and maybe provide a link.

OK. Fair enough - we only ask two things: 1. explain what it's all about here in your post. So every CPian will be able to decide to click or not click the provided link. 2. do not post in different forums and create a tip/trick at the same time - it's very low... (After all we may think that CP is good enough for us :-D)

And so the first thing you do is advertise it on a site that already does that? Just what is your definition of spam? Because mine includes "site driving" posts with no other value...

I was mor used to post technical programming articles here. Thus my articles about coding with modeldriven methodologies. I was more likely used to announce my software releases at freshmeat since 2003. I am sorry for this confusion. It's always a search where to place content correctly and not violating any rules. Thanks, Lothar PS. I would stop the messaging here for now and going to push my intention by implementing it :-)

I guess they did not have a bad intention. After I found out about their intent I posted a message in the Press release forum. It fits there because it is newsworthy, and their goal is to add an alternative to the recently discontinued Freecode website. Which makes it a tool, is free and therefore fits to the Press Releases.

Cool, however, nowadays places like Code Project, Stack Overflow, and GitHub are great places for free code. Marc

I initially upvoted your post, since I mistook it (all) as sarcasm. Sorry for the false vote of confidence - I didn't realize you were one of the 3 spammers.
