What do you feel is missing from file sharing services?
-
I've always been curious to know what people would like to see in a file sharing service. Dropbox and cloud sharing services aside - I'm talking about the plain old drag and drop uploading websites.
I'd like to see them paying me loads of money for every file I upload - regardless of what happens to it after that.
You looking for sympathy? You'll find it in the dictionary, between sympathomimetic and sympatric (Page 1788, if it helps)

Earning money from uploading files? This isn't such a bad idea really. Something like adfly?

It's a brilliant idea for me - I have a random number generator and a bank account I'd like to fill....

I'm willing to support this idea - bought website hosting two days ago that should work any second now.

You're mad! It'll cost you a fortune: it's way, way to easy to upload random files to your host and watch the money roll in - and it's not exactly difficult to write a program to automate that. As I said, it's good for me - possibly not for you! ;) On a serious note, if you are planning on file hosting, then you will have to be pretty careful these days: IIRC a couple of the file sharing sites closed down a few years ago after they were pressured into giving up client lists or face prosecution for illegally hosting copyrighted material their clients had posted up. Obviously, I don't know what your business model is going to be, but... :suss:

*Evil grin* Don't worry. I've got the situation handled. I can keep you updated on Twitter(@OriginalGriff), right?

You can try, but I have absolutely no idea who you will be updating - it's not me!

I would go a little further, it needs to generate the files for me on the server and upload them to itself (saving me bandwidth costs) and give me some money per upload
I like the thinking, young man! Welcome to the Board!

Perfect security and reliability would be nice to have...
