Wireless Speed Loss
-
I've recently got fibre at home. Wired I get 95/50 mbps (my plan is 100/50), so that is good. Wireless I'm getting around 47/27. Realistically, what loss should I be expecting? At the moment we have the TV, laptop and Kindles connected to the wireless (rarely all at the same time). The laptop is 802.11n capable. Is there a structured or automatic way to test / improve my set-up? I've been using inSSIDer to get onto the least congested local channels, is there anything else I should try?

Downdload Wifi Analyser app for your Android (Don't know if it is available for iOS or WinMobile), work to try and optimise the location of the wifi AP in relation to where you use the signals most. It will also show you if there is channel congestion by neighbours etc. This allows you to select a different wifi channel which will also help.

As per Dave Auld, but also try to keep the router up high and away from walls.
