I recently had a BSOD ( haven't seen one of those for years) while running Skype on Win7. My Skype contact had a BSOD ten minutes later on Win8.I have up to date hardware & software. When I look at Skype forums they are full of BSOD incidents and multiple 'solutions'. Really Skype? In this mature software age? Hello, ooVoo...

The thing with BSOD is that if you see one or hear about one and you say "well... I haven't got it for a long time" then you are guaranteed to experience it on your machine within 3 days. It's just how the curse of BSOD works :)

I've never had one on 8.1 (or 7 for that matter!) - even when Skyping to the UK over Christmas for an hour.

So I should be safe ? Had quite a lot of them a few months ago but it was a GeForce driver issue.

I would assume there are many, many more people that have no issue with Skype than there are with problems (people will report bugs and crashes, but rarely report that everything works flawlessly)

            I'd rather be phishing!

Skype was bought by Microsoft. I don't know why you're so surprised. :)

Let us know if you narrow it down/solve it. I'm betting audio or video driver. If video, then extra points if they're from ATI... Bottom line--I wouldn't blame Skype in taking down the OS.
