...and when stupidity is curable, only the stupid will be stupid... ...though, it seems he's actually talking about prevention, not correction.

Just had to throw that in, didn't you? I did consider not, for even more than a sec, but I'm not exactly in a good space with the guy right now. Maybe it has something to do with my main client reducing my hours down to 25%, because his clientele is feeling the pain of Bush's policies. I'll tell you something though. The buck does not stop at Marc Clifton. I'm more than happy to pass my pain right back to the people responsible for the current economic and geo-political fiasco. Marc Help! Didn't the Nazis try this back in the 30s and 40s? They called it Eugenics I think. That's what the gas chambers were all about. Kill anyone who was genetically inferior, by their standards of course. Soon they'll be screening embryos for "genetic defects" and aborting the ones who don't make the grade. People call the Nazis evil, but abortion of tens of thousands of babies a year who aren't even "genetically inferior" is popularly accepted. Go figure. Just my two cents. Feel free to be offended. ;P

This recession is the result of over 12 years of constant growth made all the worse by the Y2K run-up. The longest running bull market and growth since WWII. When Y2K was over that was when the economy started the downturn since most companies had too much stock. Compound this with the Enron et al fiasco and you have a recipe for disaster but blaming the president for this is just a crock and a lazy argument. The president can make budgets but it's the congress that passes them. Alan Greenspan had more to do with the current economy that Bush or Clinton. He wanted to stop the "exuberance" so he kept raising the interest rates until he got the economy to basically stop. Then he had to start lowering the interest rates to get the economy started again.

Oh get a clue. I think I do have a clue. I've been watching the stockmarket react to Bush's tax refund policy, his proposed budget with its largest deficit spending ever, his ignoring of Greenspan's warning about debt, and his continuous beating of the war drum. but blaming the president for this is just a crock and a lazy argument. I agree that certain events, like Enron, 9/11, recession, etc., were not in his control, but his management of the situation has been non-existent. In fact, the decisions he's made have been harmful, not helpful. And I do criticize his leadership, his "vision", and his vacuous plan for implenting his vision. There are things the man could say and do that would directly and immediately improve the economic climate. From all accounts, it's ready to rebound. But he's holding it back, primarily with his "I'm going to do what papa didn't" attitude. And the House and Senate, now being controlled by Republicans, will do whatever Bush says. Almost. At least some of them seem to be balking at some of his hairbrained ideas. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

The current downturn is related to the bond market which was the one thing holding the market steady during the recession since inflation was under control thanks to the < 1% prime but yes deficit spending does affect the bond market and this added uncertainty will have an impact on the market. But I agree the stock market is poised for a rebound. Hell it's been trying to rebound since before 9/11 but that didn't help the economy. Once the war kicks off and we over throw SH the market will take off like gang busters, then GW is going to go into a 2004 election with a growing economy and a win in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Now if things don't go well in Iraq or the economy doesn't improve by 2004, then I'll just stand by and let the republicans roast since their won't be any excuses when they control all 3 branches. But if things go well and the economy is growing and back on track then the republicans will control all 3 branches for at least another 2 years[EDIT] longer after the 2004 elections.[/EDIT]

Yes, but did it end with him? It's still going on today. I never said the Nazis started Eugenics, did I? The principles behind Eugenics started thousands of years ago. Just because Dalton gave it a name, doesn't mean he started it. Be a know-it-all, if you must, but don't don't critized other people without actually listening to what they have to say.

I apologize. I misread your message. I didn't realize the useless information tag was actually spelling out the acronym at the top. I thought you were saying you were giving my message a vote of 1 because it was useless information. Sorry about that. [rises from knees and backs out of the room humbly bowing] :-O
