WinPhone Kaput?

Windows Phone market share (as of 2015 [1]) is less than 3%, while the number of people believing Elvis is alive is about 7%. So, it might be still some margin for WinPhone growth... :-D On a serious note: recently I was looking for inexpensive unlocked Smart Phone of ANY brand around $100 for the field-testing of my Real-time NY Bus tracking app (IoT article on CP [2], actual web app [3]) and found one from relatively new Co. named BLU Studio-X: 5.0" HD Display (720x1280), 8MP/2MP cameras, Dual SIM, Quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (extendable to 64GB), Android 4.4 KitKat upgradable to 5.0. So, gimme the reason to NOT using this one and to continue writing apps for WinPhone? I mean, seriously marketable apps, not just hobby stuff… PS. Btw, THIS GUY [4] apparently is Calling Elvis (using WinPhone, maybe? :-D ) References 1). http://www.idc.com/prodserv/smartphone-os-market-share.jsp[^] 2). 'enRoute': Real-time NY City Bus Tracking Web App[^] 3). Real-timeNY Bus Monitoring[^] 4). Calling Elvis live | Dire Straits[^]

At least use Xamarin, you can target iOS, Android AND WinPhone. And it's possibly the best multi platform tool around!
All in one Menu-Ribbon Bar DirectX for WinRT/C# since 2013! Taking over the world since 1371!

He is 80 years old. I'm 7% && I own a winphone... (that makes: 0.21% !!!)

Btw, I've tried that approach couple years ago using Xamarin as a conversion tool: at that time Xamarin was kinda ridiculous POS (piece of software, diplomatically speaking :-D ). Not sure if things changed for good. So, in case I decide to write for Android 5.0, I will simply switch to Goog dev tools: this seems to be much more reasonable approach than sticking to some dying proprietary technology from software giant-in-disarray and another proprietary sw from another Co. w/questionable future… IMHO.

Well. 3% of a huge market is still quite a market. Why target only one OS? When the windows phone market finally disappears you're apps will have little competition.

Quite interesting observation: zero competition in non-existing market... kinda "divided by, divided by zero, zero" (as an auld song goeth :-D )

Isn't 0/0 = infinity? So an infinite opportunity? Although 0/0 is also = 0 Arghh. more seriously, 3% of the mobile market != 0
