SO bored
-
This is the first weekend in a long time that there's been nothing to do. Arg. I sat at home all last night doing nothing, and sat at home today doing nothing (except takin my Jeep through some "not supposed to be driven on" deep snow roads earlier). The only option tonight is to go to a small town bar about 20 miles from here with some friends...but I really don't feel like doing that :( Is anybody else bored as hell? I'm in a southern suburb of Mineapolis, MN. You're in Toronto right? How much snow did you guys get? We got like 4 inches. U2 - Acrobat[^]We had 15cm a couple of weeks back then another 15-20 last week. With all the plowing and drifts we've got some nice deep piles everywhere. We had a thaw over the last couple of days and a flash freeze is going on right now, so tomorrow is looking like it could be even more fun :D cheers, Chris Maunder

:omg: You guys have a lot more snow than we do. Also, make sure your bike tires are going to be able to withstand the ice you're going to get, or the CPians around here are going to get mighty rowdy when the server(s) go down and you're stuck out in a ice patch somewhere. ;P Chris Richardson You can stash and you can seize In dreams begin, responsibilities

U2 - Acrobat[^]The tyres should be able to handle it. They are low pressure (30PSI on snow). The thing that freaks me about about low temp riding is that the rubber on the brake pads stops doing their stopping-the-wheel thing. Very scary! Just popped out on the balcony - it's an ice-rink out there! :D cheers, Chris Maunder

Same thing happens if you get mud on your wheels and brake pads. I suggest buying wheels with disc brakes if you value the ability to stop at all times. ;) I have not bought disc brake because I like to ride on the edge. Or maybe I'm just cheap. :) -- Shine, enlighten me - shine Shine, awaken me - shine Shine for all your suffering - shine

The problem with discs is that they get clogged up with dust too easily. The plae I used to ride back home was a big dust bowl and a mate who bought a new bike with discs had constant problems. With the pads it's just a matter of popping open the brakes and running a finger through to clean them out. cheers, Chris Maunder

Yeah, cameras definaly rock, but there's so many other things I need to spend money on (like US$1100 on big tires), that it's hard to justify spending much on a camera. Having a nice 35mm would be SO cool though, and I think you are right, I would never be bored. Chris Richardson You can stash and you can seize In dreams begin, responsibilities
