Making XP Users Invisible
-
Guys (and gals), Does anyone know how to make an XP user not appear on the Welcome Screen (like Administrator or ASPNET)? And no, this isn't a programming question - I think I might know how to do it that way, I'm just feeling too lazy and want to click a few buttons and make the new ID I created hide away somewhere. It's only there for my 9X Virtual Machines to log into, not for any actual purpose :) Paul We all will feed the worms and trees

Thanks Michael, didn't even think of looking there. I have found out how to do it without that now. It's in Local Security Policy->Local Policies->User Rights Assignments as "Deny Logon Locally". Would have been much quicker if I'd thought of TweakUI though ;P Paul We all will feed the worms and trees

Would have been much quicker if I'd thought of TweakUI though Could probably make life it easier if you just create group like "No Local Login" and set the policy on that group. Then when managing users, simply assign them to the group. That would work wouldn't it without having to go back and set policy for new user accounts you create? Rocky Moore <><

Good idea Rocky, but I really don't expect to be doing this more than once. My virtual machines all use the same ID, it's just not one that's set up on my main PC. Interestingly, this is where I started out. I have a few invisible IDs set up by software on this PC and I thought they'd all turn up in a group set up for that purpose, but they were all members of Users. That was where I started confusing myself :-D Paul We all will feed the worms and trees
