My daughter's homework this week is to think of an adjective, then think of an antonym for it that starts with the same letter. For example 'fragrant - flatulent' They have to try to get 26 of them, one for each letter of the alphabet. So off you go, have fun with it, I have no idea if it is even possible. I'm not really going to give her the answers, but I had a bit of a laugh coming up with amusing pairs, rude ones predictably, and haven't yet managed to get anything for x or z (or quite a few others that I haven't tried to think of so far).

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

I think zig and zag are synonyms, they are only opposite in execution, not in meaning.

You might also get a completely correct but useless answer paired with a downvote from Griffs favourite.

The definitions are the same, on their own they mean the same thing. When you have them together they are opposite to each other. And even more confusing, Zig & Zag have been given a new series that will be aired next year.

Hi Chris, you might be surprised at what new words/phrases have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary, the palladial/benchmark dictionary: the OED "word of the year" for 2015 is: [^] the ‘Face with Tears of Joy’ emoji. underbeard sideboob vape (2014 "word of the year") ruptured duck pod person po-faced tin hat fyi: zing, zonk, and x-factor are all in the OED, while xerographed doesn't appear as a separate entry, I consider it a fair extrapolation from xerography and xerographic which are valid entries. cheers, Bill
