Issue: mouse-hover on QA questions shows post has been down-voted
-
Edit: oops ... meant to post this on the Site Suggs and Buggs Forum. I plead insomnia ... 15 hours ago was about 7am here, and I was sleepless, using the computer to keep warm in a record-breaking (for northern Thailand) rainy weather anomaly with temperatures around 50F/11C (like Seattle, it was, and is today). I just noticed this (is it a recent "feature" ?). If everyone harvesting the strange fruit in the gardens of QA down-voted with wisdom and parsimony (hallelujah !), then I'd be fine with this :) Unfortunately, down-voting behavior on QA (the forums I hang out on) is, imho, as immoderate and out-of-control as the behavior of many regular respondents (including, sad-to-say, some MVP's). So, imho, this lagniappe of popped-up nugatory, is of little value, and, may have the effect ... not sure about this ... of discouraging reading the questions. thanks, Bill

Well put, Bill. I feel that the temptation to be dictatorial on the Q&A forum needs to be resisted. Members should be free to post and answer questions without being bullied by others who think they know what’s best for them. To me, passing judgement on posters, when nothing is known about them or their circumstances, is somewhat unfair. Surely, virtue is not found by deprecating the needy but by offering them unconditional help?

You told it.
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.
