Other browsers have similar bugs that have been expoited recently. The BBC, however, is obsessed with Apple as are most of the "artistic" industries. Their tech section is littered with Apple articles, if someone brings something out (a new phone, a new service) the article is always written as a "Contender to Apple's throne" article. They write as if Apple is the only vendor for tech and that everyone has an iWhatever, completely ignoring Apple's small portion of the market. That is why Apple's Safari has been singled out for attention.
