Nobody knows, but there's a possibility that Iraq defense lines just surrender when seeing the first US helmet. Wouldn't it be possible to see first if the Iraqi Army collapses, before dropping thousands of bombs and missiles on the cities?

"rumor" (news reported in the US) report that xx,000 are ready to surrender in the north once activities start. Also reported is the "fact" that members of the US command have the cell phone numbers of and have been in communication with Iraqi commanders in the field. I suspect there is "some" truth to the reports although I think some of this is just propaganda, possibly for the Iraqis themselves. I think most of the Iraki first line of defense will surrender quite fast, they are not supposed to be the best of the Iraki army, a bit like in GW v1.0; they will surrender because they are not well equipped and probably starving and thirsty. All of these prisoners will need to be taken care of, and will put pressure on the US/UK/and the rest, to "debrief" them. The main Iraki army, the Republican guard is said to be stationned around Bagdad,and better trainned, equipped and feed; I think they might not go down easy. Max.

I think we agree here. Even though we differ on the over all Iraq issue (or the US approach) it would probably cause untold harm to the Turkish people and the country overall if the populace disagrees so severly. Mike

May I be picky again? Who grants the US the right to propaganda Iraq this way (it's already going on for days, if not weeks, mind you)? Imagine ANY country (be it Canada) to drop leaflets near an US Army base, recommending them to surrender.
