Russian media group "RBC" reported that US are planning to use nuclear weapon in Iraq http://top.rbc.ru/index1.html?incidents_20030321224534 This message came from "al-Arabiyah" media group. They interviewed US military officers, and they gave such info. Sorry, I can't tell you more - but it's widely known that US used nuclear weapon in 1991 in Iraq. So God save us all... How will I laugh tomorrow... when I can't even smile today

You are just totally ignorant here. Please read a book about depleted uranium tipped weapons before you open your mouth. THEY AREN'T NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND THERE ISN'T ANY RADIATION ABOVE GROUND LEVEL TRACES. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Obviously exluding those they actually hit, for which the effect is pretty fatal, it is believed that DU rounds can cause serious long term effects in the soldiers that use them too (and, I would imagine, civilians occupying the areas large amounts are used in, which I think it what the original poster was pointing to). :~

Nobody is disputing the article. We have been using depleted uranium shells for over 10 years now. But to claim that the US is using nuclear weapons based on using UDS is inflammatory and logically accurate as claiming the US is using a nuclear weapon every time they turn on an MRI. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Strika, As a grad student in collage I interned with a Nuclear waste clean-up company in Washington state here in the US. When working for them I did a lot of testing and research into the effects of depleted uranium. All of the data I saw indicated that there were little to no measurable radioactive effects on the environment or individuals exposed to it. Personally, I believe that the strange sickness and Gulf War Syndrome are due to the use of chemical agents during the war. I think that if we are going to pray, lets pray that the civilians and military aren't exposed to that stuff again. Later Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I can see things no one else can see. Why are you dressed like that? - Jack Burton

It's also believed that someone reading your palm can predict your future and some people believe that God takes the time to communicate with people by embedding the virgin Mary's face in a fence post (You can see it if you squint at it while the sun is going down).

It is on CNN, you just have to increase your screen resolution to 1600 x 1200 and take two steps back to be able to read it...

Dude, How do I say this gently? You are insane in the membrane. You are FUBAR. Nuclear weapons simply were not used. I think you might be referring to the depleted-uranium shells used by tanks (because it is one of the hardest metals known to man), which in no way can be considered a 'nuclear' weapon. -Sean ---- Shag a Lizard

Not to attack your concerns, but the US has not used a nuclear weapon for military purposes since the bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. One of the ways that the US and other countries monitor for nuclear testing is that nuclear weapons make a distinct seismological signature. If the US had used one in 1991, the world would have known, with every university with a siesmograph reporting the event. The other thing is that in order for nuclear weapons to be used, there is a long involved chain of command going all the way to the President to allow the release of nuclear weapons. There is no way that this took place without the information being exposed, people don't keep secrets that well, and there would have been witnesses. I agree with the comments made by others here that the US did use depleted uranium weopons in the Gulf war. The reason they are used is the high density of the slugs driven by high explosive charges is able to penetrate thick armor. This makes them an effective weapon against tanks and other armored vehicles. I think that the term "nuclear weapon" is a miscommunication, yes the US will use spent uranium shells against armored vehicles, but not fission bombs.
