Quite a coincidence with all the talk about skills in programming (and the lack tehereof), but I just got THIS[^] on Facebook (in an entirely different connection). I have never heard of Dunning-Kruger and the concept of "illusory superiority" before, but it makes perfect sense, and it certainly explains some of the things we have discussed below... ;)

Oh yes.. The Peanuts crew knew all about this (see my sig) :) Not to mention old Will: >The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool

"Know" nothing, as "no nothing" would be somewhat different. I'd like to point out the obvious that the chart is not just a generalization, but the effect is also visible when growing up.

Yeah. Dunning and Kruger were convinced that they were experts.

It's because he's a facebook user -- anything even remotely intelligent takes a long time to soak in. It's in the facebook terms and conditions.

We travel in the same circles, I'm thinking.

We won't sit down. We won't shut up. We won't go quietly away. YouTube and My Mu[sic], Films and Windows Programs, etc.
