Trump negotiated a deal with Middle Eastern rulers to set up safe zones in Syria and other parts of the Middle East, the first big step to ending the refugee crisis altogether. Barely a week in office, he's already done more to solve world crises than all of Europe and America's leaders combined accomplished in the past 8 years. http://www.jpost.com/American-Politics/Trump-and-Saudi-king-agree-to-support-safe-zones-in-Syria-479967

The EU weasels are just worried that they may actually need to participate in their own defense. The horror!

They should because us "unhinged morons" who elected the White House inhabitant are tired of providing military defense to a continent of ungrateful nanny states whose citizens constantly blame the US for every ill of the world. It's past time they look after themselves.

You know Europe could theoretically make peace with Russia and the US would munch their freedom fries around the globe on their own. Less war more love, sounds good to me.

What, you mean he has actually done what I have been saying is the way ahead, safe zones in and around Syria protected by the UN? What next, fund them through Syrian oil sales? :)

Neither do I - that would just be dumb. I was commenting on your implication that if the US left the EU to take care of itself and they befriended Russia there would be "less war, more love". History tells us the opposite.

Meh! The US has run a trade deficit with the EU for decades. It helps us economically if we start "rolling our own".

It would be unfortunate but I'd prefer a trade war with the EU rather than continued lopsided US military expenditures (both lives and $) in their defense. Can you offer even a single rational reason why Europe shouldn't defend themselves?

US lives expenditures defending the EU hellooooooo :) I don't think the EU will pay any US demands. If anything they may ask the US to pack and leave. We will see. Interesting times.

We helped instigate it. Nothing bad happens in the middle east without US involvement.

US lives expenditures defending the EU hellooooooo :) I don't think the EU will pay any US demands. If anything they may ask the US to pack and leave. We will see. Interesting times.

                                      I asked:

Can you offer even a single rational reason why Europe shouldn't defend themselves?

We helped instigate it. Nothing bad happens in the middle east without US involvement.

The Arab Spring was nothing to do with the US.

Nope, I've got nothing, zilch, zero, nill. Europe should put together a sizeable army, invest in their own military technologies and stop buying anything from the US.
