New Zealand Salaries

How you get the money is more important that how much you got. Living in a soul-grinder like LA isn't worth the benefit if you come out of it a hollow shell of a human, albeit one that didn't get cold! I agree on NYC - a different type of hell hole - but Chicago is better (in my limited experience) than, say Detroit. But then, I would say that: I live in the Welsh Valleys, where pay is low but the air is breathable!
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

I think you would feel right at home in the back blocks of the north island. Rolling, green ,WET hills with plenty of sheep on them. South island you freeze your tits off in the winter.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity RAH

Over on insider news, Kent posted this: New Zealand will pay for your holiday if you agree to a job interview in Wellington[^] Out of curiosity, I did some searching and found that tech salaries in New Zealand are relatively low [EDIT: specifically in Wellington], at least as reported on various sites. Is New Zealand having trouble attracting talent? If so, wouldn't offering more money be helpful?
Well, my resume will be getting submitted with no waste of time. Getting a job in a foreign country is far more important to me that what that job pays, as long as it covers cost of living.

I live wallow in the Welsh Valleys,
Having seen a number of episodes of "Hinterland" I can confidently say that my above FIFY is rather generous. I can't call that living - not with a straight face and a belly full of Nagy's medicine.

"It can't be worse than LA" OTOH, I'm ten years out from retirement and maximizing income is more important than where I live. PS. Well, yes it can be; it could be Chicago or New York City, both of which I loathe. And for all of LA's problems, the weather is decent and the temperature remains above freezing.

I'd agree with your preference of LA if they got rid of one of their major problems: their entire population. To that end, I shall resume my Earthquake dance.

Hey! Some of us are actually part of that entire population and would prefer to continue to live without major Earthquake dances. Put your pants back on, there's women and children present, and we who have to sleep at night.
