    I've been asked to look at ways to install XP without using the XP installing. Let me clarify that. :-) A client wants to install a very cut down version of XP. He doesn't want to circumvent the activation either. -- Any ideas on the best way to approach this ? Regardz Colin J Davies

Sysprep from Microsoft . an automated installation response file (sorry, I don't recall how to create it, but on Technet you'll surely find it). . If a high degree of "cutting down" is required, you could use Windows XP Embedded Edition, which will allow you to remove almost everything but the kernel and HAL from Windows XP.
