Good morning! Maybe some of you remember my story: Working with professional artists[^] Well... today is the day! In roughly 14 hours I will sit on-stage behind a drum kit and I will have to play live-on-stage a song together with the band! I am so damned nervous... couldn't sleep well, trained the song over and over and over again... I am close to the point that "I can't hear it anymore! Arrghh" All my friends, family and even lots of my colleagues at work will be there tonight... oh man... if I crush this... I'll dig a hole and jump in! Luckily it's a rather small gig, not really a pure "friends&family" show but we are not on an open air stage, we play in a club/bar tonight, so the amount of people is limited. At least there will not be ten thousands of people watching me fail :) I will post the video tomorrow if that's ok and then I'll also post the link to the app so you can take a look at the work the band and I did together. For now, I have two things that I want to ask and tell: First, what would you do? Imagine you are in my situation. You are about to do one of those once-in-a-lifetime things and you know, lots of people will be watching. What's your "Plan B", if something goes wrong? I mean... I really don't want to break the song but especially when drumming and you are over-nervous, your perception changes, time has a different speed, you see some things in slomo... and "time" is EVERYTHING behind the drums... The guitarist told me, his best trick right before a gig is a beer 1 hour before they start, a second beer 45 minutes before, a third 30 minutes before... well I guess you see the algorithm... I think I will trust him and I will use the same trick :D Second, more important: The band and I have a problem. I can "only" do Android Apps. I don't own a Mac and probably never will, I never had an iPhone but there still plenty iPhone users out there. We are looking for someone (preferrably in Central Europe, but today on this planet, physical location doesn't matter that much) who would like to join us and port the App to iOS. But I want to make one thing clear: There is no money involved. It is a Fan-Project, I did it for free for the Band because I damned LOVE their music, and anyone who ports this to iOS will do it for free, for the fun of it too. Are you someone who would be interested in that p

I am curious... how did it go? About the collaboration, I would like to, but no technical background to support my willingness :(

M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

There was not much response on my "Part II" post, so I didn't publish the video. Thanks for asking, it all went VERY good - I played without a single mistake (at least, as fas as my musician ears could "hear"), and I even handled a quite complicated fill pattern in the middle of the guitar solo without a single wrong stroke. *phew* ;P The App is doing "ok" in the Play Store, it receives frequent updates from me, recently made it Android 8 compatible (for their new notification channel api) and the band is quite happy with the app state as-it-is. So, this project was successful from the start to the end :)

Glad to hear it. It is really satisfying when this kind of things work :)

Do I really have to? My profile has my Android label linked and as I wrote, the app is live, shouldn't be so hard to find out :) My favorite songs: Album "Back in time": - I'm going down - Nightfall (an EXTREMELY beautiful ballad!) Album "Deep inside" (amazing album!) - Something nasty - Beneath the squares - Deep inside - Beautiful - When the rain comes down Album "Different" - I'm not deaf (Hymn... such a hymn) You don't know the band for sure, but it's worth listening - especially the first two songs from the above list from the back-in-time album. cheers

:) Found ya. "Ganz spontan", indeed. Pretty good. I like 'em. Of course, it would have been cool if the mystery band was Opus, but... ;)

Glad you like them! Which songs did you listen to? Oh and don't mind, installing the app and smashing in some 5 stars there ;P ;P ;P ;P ;P In their youtube channel you can find the live video of me playing if you are interested there. I played "you do it" with them. Please don't laugh too loud about how I look at the drums --- to my defense: - I am a left-handed person - The drum kit is set up for right-handed people - We did not play with the studio kit, I saw the drum kit (and the arrangement) first time about 45 minutes before the video on stage - I had zero chance to try the kit (and the distances) before :)

Well, the first one was with some guy they pulled up from the audience to play drums... ;) (I'm just letting YouTube run through all of them.)
