xkcd: Eclipse Review[^] My review is situated precisely at the origin of Randall's graph, even though we were supposed to see 90% totality from our location (Dayton, Ohio, USA). In true Murphy style, I managed to be scheduled into meetings during most of the eclipse. It wasn't terribly disappointing, however, since the local sky was completely overcast during the entire non-event.

I think there is a big/huge difference between even 90% coverage and 100% coverage.

      I'd rather be phishing!

I can verify that. We were on the road and drove through the totality and even with the overcast sky and surrounding rain showers, it still was the coolest, eeriest thing I have ever experienced. We saw gradient blue sky to east and sunset to the north all while the area around us was almost as dark as night. It was awesome.

I am lucky enough to be living in the path of totality. From my front yard I was able to see about 1.5 minutes of totality, and it was really one of the coolest experiences I have ever had.
