Hi, It's a bloomin ghost town (cue the tune!) today in the office, nobodys here. Taking advantage of the Easter break to get a long holiday or mass UFO abduction. :~

I found your ToDo list: 0. Move around on those chairs with wheels. 1. Grab the good office supplies. 2. Check for beer in fridge. 3. Found nothing? Go to the nearest pub!

Not in the local supermarket. They are all buying stuff as if a famine was eminent. And all I wanted was something to eat as lunch and, if it's not asking too much, something to drink to get through the day.

I still have a PS/2 port and the IDE controller to design. After that, I will have to come up with BIOS functions to access my DIY hardware. Do you think 8MB RAM will be enough for an 8 bit CPU or should I better get 16 MB?

Well speaking from experience writing the low level device drivers is a world of headaches. So best to put that off until you have achieved enough to go 'I do know what I am doing'. 8MB ram should be more than enough, I mean the old 8 bits rarely had anything above 128K...

Do you do any Echo Cancellation too btw. :-\ We are implementing SIP telephony on a PC with speakers and a microphone attached, and everything is singing around like crazy. I googled a bit, but results are not very promising, I read about a guy who needed a year to implement Echo Cancellation in software ...

Hey, at least I'm not bit banging everything like we used to in the old days. :-) The routines to send or receive bytes over a bit banged 4800 baud serial port were a world of headaches. Waiting for an interrupt, taking a byte from a controller and pushing it into a buffer is endearingly simple compared to that.

I walk past the local council and government offices every day on the dog walk, and the car park is jam-packed... except on a Friday - any Friday - when it's mostly empty by lunchtime. ..and I pay my taxes for this... it's a disgrace, I tell ya.

I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats. His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.
