I just discovered ther joys of html mail with Outlook Express and my hotmail account. what is html mail? how can OE just download message titles from hotmaill into a new folder and stuff? Doesn't anyone here know how extensible Outlook Express is? That's ofcourse, natural cause very little of it is documented at all. :omg:

I just *hate* it. Recieving an email styled like a website with pictures, :omg: scripts doin who knows what to your computer... I usually delete them and never open an email from the sender again (unless I know him *very* well, than I'll give him another chance ;) ). What I miss in Outlook is the possibility to display all emails as plain text. PocketPC New menu Office addinIMHO HTML email messages SUCK. Especially ones that have no text equivalent - as they are nearly ALWAYS spam. I think they should be eliminated - and any site that offers a newsletter style subscription and doesn't offer text format as an alternative should be ignored. I really, really, really loathe HTML emails. :( :( :( BTW, Hush was originally by Joe South and was famously covered by Deep Purple. Kula Shaker indeed! :-D

> Recieving an email styled like a website with pictures I particularly hate getting 400KB emails with 2 lines of text with a freakin' huge picture as a background. Of course those older relatives have no concept of bandwidth and trying to explain why they should stop doing that goes over their heads...

When I first signed up at CP, I set the newsletter option to HTML mail. The first mail I got was ~ 400K. Aaaaaaaaah! The first thing I did was change the newsletter type to Plain text. I hate getting silly mails containing 200k of stupid pictures with 2 lines of worthless text in them from my dumb class group.   Vikram. It's not intrusive and well structured - but this is an exception to the rule ("Ausnahmen bestätigen die Regel" as we say in germany ;) ) that html mails are junk. 400K??? The largest HTML email I can remember getting was about 70K. Initially the mailer I was using would not send anything over 32K, so I'm surprised you got something that big. Do you still have it? Typically the HTML newsletter is around 25K plus around 5-10K of images. cheers, Chris Maunder

Heeeeey, i remember those! They used to be sent out weekly, right? :-D

I'd show a smile but I'm too weak I'd share with you, could I only speak
Are you still not getting it? cheers, Chris Maunder

Haven't recieved it in months. Scrapped free services (yahoo & hotmail) and went with my ISP's mail server, but still nada. Reply notifications come through fine, just no newsletter. :( BTW - what ever happened to past newsletters going into the archive?

For some reason emails to your address are bouncing. I tried sending a bunch of test emails but no luck. Are you getting email responses from the forums? Shog9 wrote: BTW - what ever happened to past newsletters going into the archive? Lack of time, essentially. I'll work on getting them updated. cheers, Chris Maunder

Chris Maunder wrote: 400K??? Do you still have it? Err...sorry, Chris, [sheepish look] I searched just now. I guess I deleted it right then, 'cos it was toooo big. But I distinctly remember it was very large, 400K I think. Back then, it really ticked me off, and all my newsletters since then have been plaintext. Regards, Vikram. I've changed my account settings again, different address, different server - we'll see if this works. Chris Maunder wrote: I'll work on getting them updated.

<> Chris, I don't receive the newsletter too. The last one I got was the 25th November issue. I changed my mail address (and had to change my display name at the same time) from the one provided by my ISP to my own domain name but to no avail. I get all the notifications from the forums, so I don't know what's the problem. The drop down box in the settings page looks beautiful with HTML selected for the newsletter format. :(
